The Plasticity series is a biodegradeable index of plastic containers consumed daily. The sculptures themselves are made from consumable food items: water, tapioca starch, glycerin and vinegar. With the original objects sourced from missorted garbage bins and the casted sculptures designed to biodegrade in weeks’ time, Plasticity questions the environmental impact of our reliance on plastics and the ecological footprint of artmaking. The materiality of tapioca bioplastic continuously shifts and shrinks after drying, reflecting the changing fragility of our environment.
