All memberships include 24/7 access, wifi, utilities, insurance, shared storage facilities, restroom and kitchen access, communal workspaces and common area cleaning. Prices include HST.

Everyone is welcome at Akin regardless of skill level or experience! It is not necessary to submit a portfolio or C.V. to become an Akin member at one of our studios.

Private Studios Available

If you are looking for a completely private studio (4 walls to the ceiling and a door that closes) this is what we currently have available:

Akin Niagara: NIA 20: 382sf for $1152/month. Located opposite the shared kitchen and restrooms. This private studio has one large window along one wall.

Akin Queen East: QUE 04: 500sf for $1276/month. Located on the lower level of the building. This private studio has bright overhead lighting, and built in shelving along one wall. It does not have windows.

Akin Dupont - Limited Availability

We have one Dedicated Studio available at Akin Dupont. This is a very limited opportunity due to the size of the Akin Dupont Waiting List. There is generally a long waiting period for an Akin Dupont studio, however since no one on the current waiting list has claimed this studio there is an opportunity to become an Akin Dupont member without having to wait.

Akin Queen East! Our newest East End Studio Space!

Akin Queen East is on Queen St East near Sackville St. and has 39 Dedicated Memberships (i.e your own studio), including private and semi-private options.

QUE 10: 39sf for $252 / month

QUE 19: 51sf for $303 / month

Private Office: QUE 04: 500sf for $1276/month. This private office is on the lower level of the building. It has bright overhead lighting, built in shelving along one wall, and is completely private. It does not have windows.

Studios at Akin Queen East

Akin Niagara! Our newest West End Studio Space!

Akin Niagara is located at 289 Niagara Street just south of Queen Street West. The studio is on the lower level of an apartment building in close proximity to Trinity Bellwoods Park.

Akin Niagara offers 27 Dedicated Memberships, each featuring direct window light.

Become a Member at Akin Richmond-Bathurst!

Located at 579 Richmond Street West, Akin Richmond-Bathurst is on the third and fourth floor of a beautiful old office building, with an open-concept layout, plenty of natural light, exposed brick walls and beautiful hardwood floors throughout the space. Originally a cloak making factory, the building was constructed in 1913. 

The fourth floor has 46 Dedicated Studios (i.e your own studio) and the third floor has 37 Dedicated Studios.

Akin Davisville is located at 224 Merton St. inhabiting all three floors of the building (formerly a school), Akin Davisville hosts Dedicated studios as well as Shared Memberships in rooms with large, bright windows.

Inhabiting four floors of a large office building, Akin Yonge-St Clair hosts studios with large, bright windows. Located at 1 St Clair Avenue West in the heart of Midtown, Akin Yonge-St Clair is just across the street from the St Clair Subway station, in a bustling area with countless amenities.

There are 55 Dedicated Memberships available (i.e your own studio), including private and semi-private options

Located at 1747 St Clair Avenue West, Akin St Clair is a street-level studio that opened in September 2017 at the intersection of St Clair and Silverthorn. It features member-run kiln access and large windows facing the street. It’s easily reached by the St Clair streetcar. Akin St Clair has 60 regular dedicated studios.

STC2E  and STC2F can be rented together as a one unified studio - 132sf - $611/month -  STC2E + STC2F Studio Visuals 

Alternatively, STC2E and STC2F can be divided into a 57 and 75 sqft studios. As separate studios, the information is as follows; 

  • STC2E - 57sf - $327/month  

  • When looking at the studio visual of STC2E + STC2F Studio Visuals, STC2E is the part of the studio space located right by the window.

Our availability changes every month. We have very limited availability of completely private studios (4 walls to the ceiling and a door that closes) and studios over 150sf. If we do not have any available studios that suit your needs, you can join one of our waiting lists. We have separate waiting lists for each location.

Estimated wait times:

  • Akin Dupont: 4+ months for a studio for non-ceramics work, 12+ months for a ceramics studio, 1-2 months for a Shared Membership.

  • Private Studios (4 walls to the ceiling and a door that closes): 6+ months. There are private offices at Akin Davisville, Akin Niagara, Akin Yonge-St Clair and Akin Richmond-Bathurst - any that are available will be listed above. Waiting time estimate for a private office with a window is 6-8 months. Waiting time estimate for a private office without a window is 1-2 months.

  • All other locations: 1-3 months waiting time if we do not have an available space that fits what you are looking for.
