3D Printing at Akin St Clair

Thank you for your interest in 3D Printing services! There are member-run printers at Akin St Clair that offer 3D printing services to Akin members. Please note that prices are only available to current Akin studio members. There may be longer wait times for members from other studio locations if shipping is requested. The printers are privately owned and operated by the printer technician. Akin does not guarantee printer availability, timing, or pricing. 3D printing services are not included as part of Akin Membership fees.

Important Notes from Drew:

Information about the desired surface, supports, number of copies, materials, and size enables us to print your work in the most efficient way and ensure it fits the framework of your project, minimizing possible damages.
If your project is complex and requires a large commitment from the print technician, it may only be carried out with an advance arrangement and may incur additional fees.
For health and safety reasons, we cannot do resin printing. Akin will be notified if this changes.
Please provide multiple contacts to ensure work does not get lost in the process.
When picking up prints, supports will still be on prints to help prevent damages. Support can be removed if requested.

Notice Regarding Photography:

Please be aware the work may be photographed while in process. Let us know if you prefer images of your work not to be shared on social media.

Help me support wellbeing at the workplace and notify me if your work has explicit or sensitive content.

Notice Regarding Print Materials:

If you request a print material we do not normally stock, the cost of purchasing the material will be added.

Notice Regarding Oversized Prints:

Prints larger than printers allow can be printed in pieces. Pegs and sockets can also be added to models for easier assembly. This will require approval and labor cost.

My Commitment:

I am committed to printing your commissions in a manner that is appropriate and safe for your work and my equipment. I will refuse printing of work that isn’t safe for the equipment, might cause serious damage to the equipment, or may pose a health and safety threat.

Timing:

Please allow 1 to 2 weeks for a printing, and plan in advance.

- BambuLab P1P: $0.04 per hour + grams of material + labor $10

Accessibility:

This building is all on one floor. Akin St. Clair Studios regrets any barrier to access. If you require more information or are concerned about accessibility barriers, please don’t hesitate to get in touch.

Akin St. Clair Entrance:
There are two entrances to Akin St. Clair Studios. There is one entrance at the front of the building and a side door at the back of the building on the west side. We encourage everyone to use the side door. The side door is 46 inches wide. It is flat and leads into a hall that is 59 inches wide. The front door is 35 inches wide and has one step.

Inside:
When entering from the side door, one enters into a hall. Most areas are flat inside. There is a step to get from the back hall to the kitchen. It is still possible to get to the kitchen without using the step by going around to the other entrance to the kitchen. There is one all-genders bathroom. There is one step to get to the bathroom. There is no alternative bathroom or alternative route to the bathroom. The bathroom door is 30 inches wide. There are no grab bars in the washroom and the toilets are not raised.
