ArtReach is distributing $270,000 in the form of grants to youth arts projects in Toronto. If this sounds like something that could support your work, or the work of someone you know, we want to hear from you! Request an application by June 15th!
Please help us get these funds to the young people who can make the biggest impact by sharing this opportunity with those in your community, or contact us now to get started on an application.
We want to hear from young people running projects in Toronto that:
- Increase access to quality arts opportunities that encourage creative expression and involve meaningful engagement of youth (ages 13 – 29) in Toronto
- Promote social inclusion and provide opportunities for youth to develop leadership skills, capacity and opportunities within their communities and the initiatives they lead
- Provide opportunities for youth to benefit from both the intrinsic (e.g. enjoyment, creative expression) and instrumental value (e.g. community engagement, skills development, social change) of the arts
- Involve youth in project development, implementation and evaluation
- Involve artist(s) with relevant experience and reach into participating communities
Available funding includes:
- $5,000: Pilot Projects (funds to try out a new idea, or a smaller-scale or first-time project)
- $10,000: One Phase Projects
- $15,000: Two Phase Projects (Available to previous ArtReach grant recipients)

Fright Film School
Fright Film School will give 25 low income Hispanic youth in the West end of Toronto (Dufferin – Kipling) the chance to make a series of short horror films. Over the course of 4 months, participants will learn film, Super 8 film, digital video, writing, drawing (story boards), sound and music, and produce films to be screened at the Revue Cinema.
Toronto Emerging ARTivists - Enviro ARTivism Installations The Toronto Emerging ARTivists will install 3 eco-art installations within Thorncliffe/Flemingdon Park. Our proposed projects include: a series of pop-bottle planter and stencilled moss art installations as well as an environmentally themed mural.
Say Word Media - Say Word Magazine Issue 5 This project would bring together five to six alumni of the Say Word program, to facilitate media arts workshops/programming to young people interested in journalism, creative writing, photography and graphic design in Scarborough's underserved neighbourhoods who face multiple barriers, to create another issue of the Say Word Magazine, to be distributed as Scarborough's only for-youth, by-youth magazine for the community.

Baby Steps Parenting (BSP) – Turn The Page Turn The Page program is a 15 week interactive storytelling workshops for young mothers and their children in the Lawrence Heights neighborhood. Participants will create a storybook for their child that will be published in a collective of short children stories. Final event will be a small intimate event inviting friends and family to read their section of the book.
Bay Mills Youth Centre– Access Art Access Art is a media arts program where groups of youth from each of Chester Le, Malvern, Galloway/Danzig, Bay Mills Blvd. will be provided with mentorship and skill building opportunities to direct a short film highlighting artists from their communities.
Power To Girls Foundation - Untold Stories Through My Lens The Untold Stories-Through My Lens program is a 12-week creative self-expression program for girls between the ages of 14-20 using photography and story telling. This program is designed to provide girls in the Rexdale community with a supportive space to share their thoughts and emotions in a fun and imaginative way.
