Calls for Submission: Miniature Print Exhibition, Queen West Art Crawl, Spectacle Magazine, & The Toronto Outdoor Art Exhibition
7th Biennale International Miniature Print Exhibition

Exhibition Dates: May 3 to June 17, 2018
The Ottawa School of Art, Downtown Campus is seeking submissions from professional printmaking artists. The prints must be made with any generally accepted graphic techniques. Each artist can submit a maximum of 4 prints to the jury. Prints must be numbered and signed by the artist and must have been produced since January 1, 2016. The maximum dimension of the print image is 10 cm x 10 cm. The maximum dimension of the print matrix (paper, cloth, etc.) is 20 cm x 20 cm. The Ottawa School of Art will charge a 35% commission on the selling price as indicated by the artist. There is an entry fee for submitting work: $25 for the first work and $10 for each additional work.
Prizes of Excellence will be awarded in the following categories: intaglio prints, lithographic prints, relief prints, new mixed media and public’s choice.
16th Annual Queen West Art Crawl Outdoor Art Exhibition
Early Bird Deadline: February 14, 2018 ($300 fee)
Final Deadline: April 30, 2018 ($325 fee)
Exhibition Dates: September 22-23 2018
The Queen West Art Crawl is an annual celebration of Queen Street West and the artists, businesses, community groups and residents that make up this very distinct area of Toronto. It has several components, including the juried Outdoor Art Exhibition. The Queen West Art Crawl attracts an audience of 60,00 visitors annually to buy original art, participate in interactive art showcases, enjoy live musical performances, and more. All different artistic media are accepted, including visual art, photography, ceramics, fabric art, hand-made accessories, wood/metal art and jewellers. If you are not accepted to the juried show, your application fee will be refunded (minus a 25 dollar administrative fee).
Spectacle Magazine call for speculative fiction

Spectacle Magazine is a brand new quarterly illustrated print magazine that covers the exciting world of speculative fiction, which is any story, saga, or tome that has some fantastic element. These genres include (but are not limited to) sci-fi, fantasy, alternate history, horror, apocalyptic, and weird fiction. Spectacle explores limitless worlds with infinite possibilities. The first issue will ship Feb 2018.
Spectacle wants to feature the best writers, artists, and illustrators on the planet. They also want to uncover lots of new voices too. They are currently accepting submissions for original fiction in the following categories: flash fiction and short stories. They pay a flat rate for fiction they decide to publish. $100 for flash fiction. $500 for short stories.
Flash fiction is quick, dirty, and a lot of fun. 1,000 words and under. These tend to be written with lighter tones.
Short stories are between 1,000 and 7,500 words. These tend to have well developed characters and more complex storylines.
57th Annual Toronto Outdoor Art Exhibition

Visual artists and makers in craft & design are invited to apply for the 57th Toronto Outdoor Art Exhibition at Nathan Phillip’s Square. A perfect chance to showcase your work to over 115,000 art lovers and buyers at Canada’s largest contemporary outdoor art fair. There is an application fee of $50 ($30 for students).
