Call for Applications: Emerging Digital Artists Award 2019
The Emerging Digital Artists Award (EDAA) has opened its 2019 call for applications—officially ringing in the program’s fifth year in existence. With seasoned co-presenters EQ Bank and Trinity Square Video at the helm for another year; a new website design featuring animations by Katie Kotler; and a panel of judges bringing diverse digital expertise from four different cities, all that remains missing on this milestone birthday are the critical, experimental, poetic, challenging, funny, provocative, one-of-a-kind artworks that have come to define this program.
The EDAA was launched in 2015 to celebrate early-career, screen-based artists who demonstrate criticality and creativity in their use of digital media. To be eligible, applicants must be 18 years of age, a resident of what we call Canada, and within five years of their first professional exhibition experience.
Applications to the 2019 EDAA will be accepted until June 15, 2019. Once five finalists are selected, their works will be exhibited at Trinity Square Video this fall, with a public announcement of the winner in late September. The winner receives $5,000, a membership to Trinity Square Video, and a reserved space in the artist-run centre’s Themed Commission program. The four remaining finalists each receive $1,000 and a membership to Trinity Square Video.
