THIS WEDNESDAY!
Free Community Winter Wellness Session
Google Meet: meet.google.com/mxq-bzbk-kxb
Join us on Wednesday, February 3 from 7:00pm - 9:00pm EST for an online community wellness session with a focus on moving from anxiety to resilience and creating a sense of well-being. Facilitator Shadi Mogadime will explore how compassion (for ourselves and others) is one of the best ways of dealing with challenging times. As the Dalai Lama says: "If you want others to be happy practice compassion. If you want to be happy practice compassion." Attendees can expect various concepts and practices to help identify and manage daily stressors and anxiety triggers. Shadi will also share some excellent moves to release anything that's getting in the way of fulfilling your creative work, dreams or mission.
Feel free to participate and share your experience or simply log on and listen with your fellow Akin community members and other artists.

About the facilitator Shadi Mogadime:
Shadi (pronounced so it rhymes with buddy) has been a student of many modalities in 30+ years of spiritual and personal growth exploration. Her deepest dive is in esoteric Buddhism and in the practices of meditation, yoga, and qigong as well as other wellness technologies. For the last five years, she has used these experiences and the knowledge she developed to mentor organizations and coach individual clients from around the world. Shadi feels fortunate to have spent her 25-year professional career in the charitable sector fundraising and marketing for the missions of crucial humanitarian causes, arts & culture non-profits and social change organizations. Along with her on-going coaching and mentoring work, her current focus is a company she launched in December 2020 in response to requests from clients and community members called Conversations for World Change. Its mission is to help people realize and thrive as they live their mission in life and work. It includes coaching for individuals, organization mentoring and special events.
Virtual Valentine's Card & Craft Making Party!
Google Meet: meet.google.com/ses-pnsv-uqb
Join us on February 10, 2021 from 6:30-8:30pm to make a Valentines card or craft for your sweetheart, best friend, enemy or a stranger! This is a hands-on work session for you to have some fun with glitter and glue and make a card or two! Invite a friend, bring a snack, and your creativity!
While this is a virtual event, we hope that we can inspire and delight each other by showing a variety of card-making techniques, such as collaging, how to make your own envelope, how to add “movement” in a card. No need to be an expert, just get yourself set up with some supplies and have fun. This is a time to get creative in a relaxed and casual setting.
Suggested Supplies (optional...you can just “bring” whatever you have at home):
- cardstock and envelopes: You can make your own heavy-duty hemp card stock: cut and scored to make a 4”x6” card as well as a big piece of regular old computer paper to make a 4”x6” envelope. You can always purchase already-folded card stock and envelopes beforehand as well.
- a variety of coloured paper
- pencil crayons
- spirograph and stamps
- scissors and glue
- cut and paste materials
- glitter and more!
